Jennifer Schuchert To Leave SLHS
By Jacob Vos
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us and we just have to take it,” said assistant office manager, Jennifer Schuchert. This quote was part of Jennifer’s statement that she will be moving away this summer and not working at SLHS anymore. This came as a shock to most, including herself. She says she never expected to be leaving Spirit Lake, but that her family’s lives changed last Friday.
A quick series events led to Jennifer’s husband, Chad, getting a new job in California. This meant the family had to move there. Their daughter, Lexi, also got a job in California and will be moving there from New York City this summer. They quickly worked to sell their house and got an offer immediately. They are finalizing that sale right now and the family is preparing to move in just over a month.
“I am nervous and excited at the same time,” said Jennifer. The Schucherts will be living near Lake Tahoe with their son, Payton, who is still in school. Spirit Lake graduate Grant Schuchert will be transferring to the University of Nevada this fall to be closer to his family.
Jennifer has worked at SLHS for one year full time after a brief part time training time last spring after the departure of Dana Butler. She commented several times that she will miss everyone in Spirit Lake and that she has made some great friends at Spirit Lake High School.
